October 9th PTO Minutes

 Thanks to all who were able to join us for our last PTO meeting. If you were unable to be there but wanted to know what happened, here is a recording of what went on.  We've also got minutes from the meeting typed out below:

Updates & Reports

President’s Report

  • Thank you’s - Parent Teacher Conferences - Thank you to Teri and all who helped her put together the bags for teachers. It was SO appreciated by the teachers!

  • Budget update - 

$540 to Spectrum for food trucks during Parent Teacher Conference. 

$40 for Teacher Appreciation

 $24.38 for misc office supplies. 

PTO will receive a check from the school for our annual budget this week. Emily Hoopes presented a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report. Evelyn Cox seconded the motion. Motion carried. 

  • Are you on a committee? Who do you know? http://bit.ly/ptocom2020 We would love people to head up a committee, or simply just to join a committee to help out when you’re able.

  • Social media promotion 

Anything we can do to help promote is helpful. The sign up is working. Whether you sign up or not, we’d love you to record your acts of service for the site. 


Halloween - Elementary (Kathryn)

  • Class parties for 4th-6th grade, begin at 1 p.m.

    • Crafts (signup and/or purchase, volunteer to assemble crafts, volunteer to assemble distance learning grab bags/distribute, copies, google drive) - possibly making Halloween masks.

    • One or two volunteers may be needed for the Zoom costume party.

    • Treats (signup for food, paper goods)

    • Costume Dance-Off (volunteer Google Meet party hosts, music)

  • Decorating?

    • Allowed to decorate after hours. Doors? Hallways to be prioritized? Do we have interested people? We will need help with getting volunteers to decorate.

    • We would also like volunteers to help man drop off and pick up.


  • Volunteers?

    • Decorating - Keri Jones (possibly), Sheri Durham, Maranda Owens (possibly)

    • Meet distance learners to pick up packets (3:30 - 4:00) - 

    • Parents to host Google parties -

Halloween - Middle School (Emily)

  • Do you know someone who’d be a great middle school liaison?

  • Class parties for 7th-8th from 1:00 - 3:00

    • Treats (signup, food, paper goods)

    • Mask decorating? (purchase masks? Signup for craft supplies)

  • Google Meet Dance?



Halloween/Red Ribbon - Community Engagement (Kathryn & Emily)

  • Contest (Pumpkins? Costumes? Red Ribbon Week Posters?)

Red Ribbon Week (Laura)

  • Theme Days

    • Monday: Proud to Be Drug Free! - Wear red to kick off red ribbon week.
      Drug Free pledge, YouTube playlist, pledge paper chain

    • Tuesday: Peace out to drugs - Wear tie dye or bright colors
      Natural High (Activities that promote peace, health and happiness)

    • Wednesday: Team up against drugs - Wear your favorite team shirt/jersey
      Peer pressure, brown bag activity

    • Thursday: Say “BOO” to drugs - Wear you Halloween costume
      Role play ways to say no

  • Social Media - redribbon.org - We would like a campaign for Red Ribbon week online with a daily post. 

  • Wristbands? ($94.50), Most have mentioned they think the kids would like these. Pencils ($68.46)
